Day 2 | Ålesund Savor food & spirits of the seas Today begins with breakfast in Kysten, your ship’s top-tier restaurant. Afterwards there will be an opportunity to learn about and sample Norwegian bacalao on deck. This salted cod is a specialty of Norway, although it’s commonly known by its Spanish name, in Norway it’s known as clipfish and is traditionally dried out on rocks down at the shoreline. Ålesund is a colorful and vibrant university town famed for its Art Nouveau architecture – it really doesn’t look like anywhere else in Norway. Here, on board the ship, we will get the opportunity to taste some of the products from Feddie Ocean Distillery – a unique venture founded and run solely by women on the tiny island of Fedje. The organic spirits they produce include blended and single malt whiskies, botanical gins and traditional aquavit – definitely a highlight for connoisseurs of artisanal spirits. Later, you’ll enjoy a dinner that features a five-course menu, with many ingredients harvested from and grown in the surrounding fjords and mountains. The meal is paired with selected wines, as well as curated ciders and beers. After dinner, why not indulge in another cocktail in the Explorer Lounge & Bar, or go out on deck for some fresh air and the chance to watch the landscape slowly glide past. Read more |
Day 3 | Sámi fare & submerged wine As we sail through Trøndelag, we enter one of Norway’s most fertile regions—a true paradise for food lovers. This land of rivers, mountains, and mineral-rich soil produces some of the country’s finest meats, seafood, vegetables, and organic cheeses. It's no wonder Condé Nast Traveler named Trøndelag one of the top three food destinations in the world in 2022. Today's lunch is inspired by Trøndelag’s rich culinary heritage, which dates back to the time of the Vikings. As we cruise along the breathtaking Helgeland coast, the stunning views are matched only by the flavors you'll experience on board. Later, enjoy a special Sámi cooking demonstration led by one of our expert chefs. The Sámi are an indigenous people of northern Scandinavia, known for their close connection to nature and traditional reindeer herding. This evening, our Sámi Culinary Ambassador will present a four-course dinner showcasing authentic Sámi flavors and ingredients—an unforgettable cultural experience. In the afternoon, indulge in a Nordic twist on tradition with afternoon tea and Havets Bobler—'Bubbles from the Sea.' This unique sparkling wine is crafted exclusively for Hurtigruten by Rathfinny, and sea-aged in a hidden Arctic fjord. With tasting notes of citrus, apricot, and cream, Havets Bobler is a one-of-a-kind sparkling wine you won’t find anywhere else. Read more |
Day 4 | Eco farm dining & stay in Lofoten Today marks the beginning of the overland part of our culinary journey, where we leave our ship behind and head to the magical Lofoten Islands. After lunch, we step ashore and embark on an unforgettable adventure to Myklevik Gård, an extraordinary ecological farm located just outside Stamsund. Run by passionate visionaries Åshild and Gisle, Myklevik Gård is a biodynamic farm that focuses on sustainable, hand-driven farming methods. As long-time friends of Hurtigruten, Åshild and Gisle are committed to helping us reach zero food waste. Our ships deliver excess food to the farm, where it is transformed into nutrient-rich compost, which in turn grows fresh, organic produce for our culinary experiences. This evening, we’ll be guests at Myklevik Gård. After a tour of the land, you’ll learn about their close-to-nature horticulture practices. We’ll then sit down to a family-style dinner featuring dishes made from produce that’s grown, foraged, and lovingly prepared right here on the farm. Afterward, we’ll retire to our accommodations in Stamsund, savoring the day’s experiences. Read more |

Angelita, a Lofoten native, and Tamara, from New Zealand with a Japanese heritage, will show you how to bring out the rich umami flavors in seaweed using traditional methods. You’ll enjoy an insightful presentation on the many benefits of seaweed and learn how Lofoten Seaweed has grown from a bold idea to a supplier of premium seaweed products, now used in Michelin-starred restaurants across Europe. Day 6 | Whisky tasting under Arctic skies Our northern adventure continues with a journey along a path where heaven meets earth—toward the world’s northernmost whisky distillery. Today, we venture to the heart of the Arctic Circle to visit Bivrost, a name rooted in ancient Norse mythology. Derived from biv and rost, meaning "The Shaking Road," this Viking term describes the ethereal Northern Lights, once believed to be a celestial bridge to Asgard. At the Aurora Spirit Distillery, home of Bivrost, we’ll explore where Norse legend meets modern craftsmanship. This unique distillery produces world-renowned Norwegian whisky, alongside artisanal vodka, gin, and aquavit—many crafted with hand-foraged Arctic ingredients like wild berries and herbs. These local botanicals infuse each spirit with a delicate, distinctive flavor profile that’s as unforgettable as the landscape itself. Our visit includes an exclusive distillery tour led by one of the owners or a passionate expert on staff. You'll dive into ancient Viking drinking traditions and learn how they're honored through contemporary, sustainable production methods. But that’s not all—after the tour, prepare for a mystery surprise from the sea. We won’t spoil the details, but this unique Arctic experience is one you’ll be sharing with friends long after your journey ends. To cap off the day, enjoy a three-course dinner paired with cask-strength whisky tastings, all set against the serene backdrop of the Lyngen Alps—one of Norway’s most breathtaking and peaceful regions. Your night concludes in Aurora Distillery’s stylish, Scandi-chic cabins by the water, where you’ll fall asleep under Arctic skies and wake to scenery that feels straight out of a dream. Read more |
